How to make a career in Social Service?

Hey guys.... let's have a talk on How to make a career in Social Service?. People who possess a strong intention to help others without any favor in return, but feel sorely-limited due to the fact that they haven't done enough to help themselves yet, need to consider the following.

We, especially the youth of the country, must consider a program to make our career in the social service field in order to help the needy and contribute something to make our country better.

India comes second in terms of the population where almost half of the population is whether, below the poverty line, many are unemployed and illiterate. But all these are the problems which our country is facing and if it goes like this, then this vicious circle of problems will never come to an end.

Once you are employed or self-start working as a social worker, you can fulfill your dreams of helping other individuals and families among the much weaker, hopeless, challenged and helpless population of our country.

The problems which people are facing in different areas include:

• Children and Families People in Domestic Abuse Situations
• People coping with illiteracy
• Thinking of the Elder people in the family
• People dealing with Physical and/or Mental Challenges
• People who are unemployed
• People in the Correctional System
• People facing material Abuse Problems
• People having Low Income

There are many other problems with which people are dealing with but only having the discussion about these complications or telling others what one should do to help others will not solve these difficulties.

The combinations of challenges and the resulting complications are never-ending. One should himself/herself has to take a stand and make a career in social work and help others if you and I really want to do something for our country.

But why we should help these people? Who are they to us?

These people are no one to us neither they belong to us in any way but when you will take it as a career I guarantee you that helping them will give you the immense pleasure. So by becoming a social service worker give yourself an opportunity of living a rewarding life.

But the question arises what one should do at the initial stage of planning to do social work? What steps one must follow to make a CAREER in Social Service?

So, here are the steps one must follow:-

• Develop the Want to help:-

The first essential step towards social service is to develop the want to help others and make your career in social work without expecting anything in return. Because putting a smile on someone’s face by reducing someone’s difficulties in their life is the best thing you can get in return.

• Show Care towards others:-

Care is something which reduces half of the stress from the person's mind and gives the feel of having a support. It’s the best thing for the help of hopeless people in their life as it can cure the biggest problem of people.

• Find ways to help others:-

We all are aware of the problems/difficulties faced by most of the people their life. But I feel that knowing the problem will not heel their pain. Instead of that, we must find the different ways to solve them or at least reduce them to the minimum level.  

• Build a group/team:-

People who are suffering from the problems are so huge in number that a single person cannot manage the whole process of social service. Initially or later, one must build a team/group of people who too really wants to help others.

• Initiate others too to make a career in social service:-

One should initiate himself/herself first but initially or later one must also convince and encourage them towards the social work. I think it is also a kind of social service as more people will join the social work, the difficulties will be reduced or solved sooner.
