Why should we stop female feticide?

In India, women’s are deemed to be a financial burden on the families, which gives rise to an action of female feticide. Due to this discriminative thinking, the sex ratio has become imbalanced i.e. there are more number of boys in India than girls.

Woman feticide means abortion of female fetuses. In India, the first and last choice of the people is a boy and in the greed of a son, they abort the girl child. They don’t even feel guilty, instead of, they feel proud of what they did.

Female feticide does not only kills a girl, but it also kills a daughter, a wife, a sister and a mother

According to law, female feticide is illegal in India. Killing female fetuses is both, practical as well as acceptable by the society. But there are some areas where people are still operating the practice of killing girls even before their birth. 

Abortion is legal in India, but abortion just for the reason that the fetus is female is illegal.

Female killers have a thinking that a girl is considered as the economic and financial problem for the family and only a boy will secure their future in their old age and will perform the rituals after their death. He will be the one who will produce the future generation of their family.

But I want to ask a question to these kinds of people that:- 

Can a boy alone produce a child?

Factors responsible for female feticide:-

1.) Preference of the male child for economic, religious, social and cultural reasons

People in India are very partial in terms of a boy and a girl. They always pray for a boy because of economic, social and cultural reasons. They prefer a boy and don’t want a girl to take birth in their family.

2.) Social and economic dependency of female's

In India, women’s are not independent. Since their birth, they only have to follow the instructions of the males and do the household work till their death. Even today, for each and every single work or help they are dependent on the male members of the family.

3.) Easily available and affordable process for sex determination

Yes, its illegal in India, but due to some inhuman doctors who do this crime just for money the practice of female feticide is still going on. People easily get to know the sex of the child and abort it, if it’s a girl. The government had made the law against this but they don’t have an consideration with that whether the law is being followed or not.

4.) Low position of women in and outside the home

Ladies are treated very badly inside houses. They are not even allowed to speak in front of the male members of the family. It seems like they are just physically present in the houses and don’t have their own identity. Also, outside the houses, like on job, female’s are not given the high positioning job in the companies. They had to face the inequality between men and women.

5.) The practice of dowry system in India

Dowry is something which the groom or parents of the groom demands(money or something in kind) from the bride or her parents before or after marriage. In India, it acts as a curse for married women’s. Dowry system represents people’s greed for money. After marriage people torture their daughter-in-law to bring the dowry to fulfill their demands. Many ladies are beaten, thrown out of the houses and even burnt or killed. Dowry is now illegal in India, but there are some people who are still narrow-minded and greedy for money.

People just don’t understand a simple thing that women’s are the future of their family as well the country. We even can’t imagine the world without females.

Narrow-minded and greedy people are doing their work, but what we are doing?.

People are torturing the women’s, killing them and we (the smart ones), we just stand and see the show. Because why should we care?. The woman facing these problems is not our daughter, sister, or a friend.

But this careless attitude, just because we don’t have any relation with the woman, will not help in reducing or removing female feticide from the society.

नारी ही.....भविष्य है |

We all should help and support females to save our country from being a womanless country. It's not necessary, that we will wake-up only when someone in our relation will face such problems. 

So join the hands let's make sure that from now onwards, not even a single girl child will be killed before and even after the birth.

It’s the times demand to raise our voices and fight against this inhuman act of female feticide. I think not only males, but females should also raise their voices because I feel that:-
